When it becomes clear they are trying to get hold of the plutonium needed to make three nuclear weapons the IMF send Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team to try and break up the deal. This time though the CIA want oversight and send Agent Walker (Henry Cavill) along for the ride.

Unlike previous outings this is a clear sequel to Rogue Nation and it probably helps a bit if you've seen that.
Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Stephenson) is back, as is Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) and we get a decent cameo from Angela Basset as the CIA director.
The operation leaps from setback to plan B to setback with Cruise again managing to convey a degree of "I'm too old for this shit" while telling everybody "it's fine we'll come up with something".
There's some really nice little story twists and again Christopher McQuarrie delivers great action scenes. The chase stuff in Paris is outstanding.
Again a slight slip in quality from the previous instalment mostly because it's a bit less team and more Cruise. The team chemistry stuff works great in these movies and when there are long scenes with Cruise doing solo action stuff there's little scope for dialogue beyond "turn left" over a radio.
Still top notch espionage action though 7/10.
