War Machine

US Army Ranger candidate 81 (Alan Ritchson) has given up everything to complete his Ranger training and fulfil the promise he made to his brother in doing so.

As he and the other Ranger candidates face their final training scenario, which is to destroy a downed experimental weapon, they find an immensely impressive prop slightly away from the expected location.

Placing their demolition charges they think they've had an unexpectedly easy ride. The only problem is: this isn't their objective.

CW: injury detail, so much jingoistic macho hoora I think I made myself dumber just by watching it

The Empty Man

James Lasombra (James Badge Dale) is a former Detective struggling with guilt and grief following the untimely death of his family. When the daughter of his friend Nora (Marin Ireland) goes missing, leaving the enigmatic message "The Empty Man made me do it" written in blood, he feels compelled to look into the urban legend behind this.

No good will come of this.

CW: jump scares, suicide

Soldier

Todd 3465 (Kurt Russell) is a Soldier, brutally trained since birth to be an emotionless killing machine.

When made obsolete by a new generation of genetically engineered replacements he is dumped and left for dead on a planet that serves as a garbage pile.

No good will come of this.

The Sword and the Sorcerer

Titus Cromwell (Richard Lynch) covets the kingdom of Ehdan and raises the Sorcerer Xusia (Richard Moll) from his tomb to aid in his conquest.

When the land is taken, the heir to Ehdan, Prince Talon (Lee Horsley) escapes and grows up to be a great mercenary and pirate.

Now a decade after he lost a kingdom Talon returns for revenge.

CW: objectification of women of the "slutty concubines" variety and the worst wigs I have seen for a long long time.

Awake

Jill (Gina Rodriguez) and her family are caught up in a car accident as an odd event, perhaps a solar flare, occurs and all modern electronics are fried. The power is out and the worst elements of society see it as an opportunity to loot and rob.

It soon becomes evident that nobody can sleep any more.

Much as this seems like an opportunity for partying for some, proper sleep deprivation is a serious problem and society goes into collapse as even the most stable suffer from poor judgement and hallucinations.

For some reason, Jill's daughter can still sleep so she heads to a place where people are trying to work out what's wrong and how to fix it.

High Life

Aboard an ageing spaceship, Monte (Robert Pattinson) struggles to raise an infant child.

He is the last survivor of the original crew, sent to a distant black hole to conduct hazardous experiments.

Slowly we learn how he came to be here, alone, and why he can never go back.
