Y2K

Eli (Jaeden Martell) and Danny (Julian Dennison) are awkward kids, trying too hard to be cool in the run up to New Year's Eve 1999. Originally planning to stay in and watch videos they raid Eli's parents' liquor cabinet and head to a party because Eli's crush Laura (Rachel Zegler) will be there.

No good will come of this.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu

Din Djarin / The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) is working with the New Republic to root out remnants of the Galactic Empire. He brings along his adopted child/apprentice Grogu on missions, training him in the Mandalorian creed.

Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver) gives Mando his next mission and it means dealing with the infamous Hutt twins and their criminal organisation. Reluctantly he goes along with it.

No good will come of this.

Hotel Artemis

The Nurse (Jodie Foster) and Orderly Everest (Dave Bautista) run Hotel Artemis: a private members hospital for the criminal fraternity running out of the Penthouse of a derelict luxury hotel. Everybody goes by aliases and there are strict membership rules.

It's a busy night: The City is awash with riots and disorder after mains water was discontinued by the Corporation with a monopoly on supply.

Tonight's guests include Arms Dealer Acapulco (Charlie Day), Assassin Nice (Sofia Boutella) and bank robber brothers Waikiki (Sterling K. Brown) and Honolulu (Brian Tyree Henry).

Then news comes a very particular VIP is on their way in.

Disclosure Day

Daniel Kellner (Josh O'Connor) is on the run from sinister forces led by Noah Scalon (Colin Firth) with a rucksack full of stolen classified data. After Noah's renta-spooks abduct Daniel's girlfriend Jane (Eve Hewson), he plans a hostage exchange but from the beginning it starts to go wrong.

Meanwhile TV weather presenter Margaret Fairchild (Emily Blunt), who is struggling with being overlooked for serious work, starts to have a very weird day.

Monolith

A journalist (Lily Sullivan) is house sitting for her parents after being involved in a political scandal that cost her job for releasing unverified information. Although she probably was right about the issues she was trying to highlight. There's also an element of being in hiding as she was doxxed and feels threatened.

Unable to find what she considers proper work she's signed to produce episodes for a sensationalist "conspiracy" podcast channel but is struggling to come up with material and might lose that job too.

Out of the blue she receives an anonymous email about people who have received strange 'bricks' that have odd effects on their life. Looking into it reveals a decades long pattern she starts to investigate.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die

A man (Sam Rockwell) bursts into an L.A. diner announcing that he's from the future and needs people to volunteer to save the world from an imminent AI apocalypse.

At a first glance he looks like a homeless person, dressed in weird stuff including a see-through raincoat with lots of random dirty electronics attached. To keep everybody in line he announces he has a bomb and the "suicide vest" looks pretty convincing to the diners.

He claims this isn't the first time he's been there, the endeavour has failed numerous times, but maybe this time will be "the win".

Mickey 17

Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) and his best friend Timo (Steven Yeun) sign up for a space colonisation mission out of desperation when their macaron business fails and they owe an obscene amount of money to a sadistic loan-shark whose only pleasure in life is cutting people up.

The mission is fronted by failed Trumpian politician Kenneth Marshall (Mark Ruffalo) and his repellent culinary snob wife Ylfa (Toni Collette).

The hapless Mickey, not one to look at contracts, signs up to be an 'expendale' who will die over and over only to be resurrected by a 3D printer.

One day Mickey survives unexpectedly and staggers back to the room he shares with his girlfriend Nasha (Naomi Ackie).

No good will come of this.

Project Hail Mary

Schoolteacher Dr. Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) awakes in a dishevelled, partially amnesiac state aboard a spaceship. After yanking out the life support connections dangling from him he shambles about the vessel looking for help only to find out his two crewmates are long dead.

Grace is not an astronaut and struggles to work out what is going on, but he knows this much: it must be something to do with the phenomenon dimming Earth's sun and threatening all life. Just recently he'd been failing to come up with the words to explain this sympathetically to the children in his class.

Slowly his recollection improves but Grace has another problem: he realises he is not alone.

Predator: Badlands

Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) is a juvenile Yautja denied entry into adulthood by his disapproving father. Dek is a "runt" and a disappointment to the clan.

Dek vows to prove himself in the most ostentatious way: to hunt and kill the Kalisk, the apex predator of the death world Genna where everything hunts everything else. The Kalisk has never been taken as a trophy.

The Weyland-Yutani corporation has an expedition on Genna entirely composed of Synths: humans would simply not survive. Nonetheless things have not been going smoothly to say the least.

Dek encounters the heavily damaged, abandoned Synth Thia (Elle Fanning) who claims to have encountered the Kalisk. Much as Yautja hunt alone Dek decides Thia can be used, like a tool, in his hunt.

The Quiet Earth

Zac Hobson (Bruno Lawrence) awakes in a motel room with a stinking headache. When he goes outside there's nobody around.

This continues to be the case for some time.

Ash

Riya (Eiza González) awakes in her quarters injured and unable to recall anything much. People she vaguely remembers as colleagues have been brutally murdered and the installation is malfunctioning. As she tries to get things working again she begins to get flashes of what happened: it might be that she is responsible.

Soon, Brion (Aaron Paul) arrives from the orbital station to find out why they've gone offline.

A Quiet Place: Day One

Sam (Lupita Nyong'o) is a terminal cancer patient currently residing in a hospice just outside New York with her cat Frodo.

She has become bitter and cynical, unwilling to take part in group activities, but is persuaded to head into the city for a theatre performance by the promise of pizza afterwards.

No good will come of this.

Elevation

When large armoured bugs suddenly emerge from beneath the surface of the Earth they kill almost 95% of our population largely by surprise but also by virtue of being spectacularly hard to kill. Society mostly collapses but it's soon worked out they don't go higher than 8000ft above sea level. Mountain top communities form but things are precarious: little could be saved in the chaos.

Now three years later the medical supplies that keep his son alive are exhausted so Will (Anthony Mackie) decides he has to go down into the nearest city to search for more. He is accompanied by hunter Katie (Maddie Hasson) and antisocial scientist Nina (Morena Baccarin) who has been working on something that might kill the "Reapers". She just needs to get to her old lab...

Section 31

Section 31, the "off the books" Black Ops offshoot of Starfleet is in the process of trying to intercept a black market arms sale of a rumoured superweapon. The deal is taking place in the domain of former Terran Emperor and all-round born-to-be-bad-girl Phillipa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) and when it's clear they can't outplay her they instead attempt to recruit her.

No good will come of this.

Subservience

When Maggie (Madeline Zima) becomes gravely ill and is hospitalised her husband Nick (Michele Morrone) struggles to look after their two kids and hold down his job. Humanoid assistance robots are increasingly widespread and when he visits the showroom, daughter Isla (Matilda Firth) picks out Alice (Megan Fox).

No good will come of this.

CW: Objectification of women

Dune: Part II

Following the events of Part I, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) have escaped into the desert after the Harkonnen attack and met up with the Fremen. Generations of propaganda by the Bene Gesserit have prepared for this moment, or at least a version of it, and Stilgar (Javier Bardem) thinks Paul may be the prophesied Lisan Al-Gaib.

While Paul learns to become a Fedaykin fighter and woos Chani (Zendaya), Lady Jessica uses all her skills as a Bene Gesserit to ensure the prophecy comes to pass.

No good will come of this.

Significant Other

Ruth (Maika Monroe) and Harry (Jake Lacy) go on a hiking weekend in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. She's anxious about it but he tries to put her at ease.

Secretly Harry intends to propose at a beautiful overlook.

No good will come of this.

Alien vs. Predator

When one of the Weyland Corporation's satellites detects anomalous heat under the ice in Antarctica that hints at a large buried structure they hastily assemble a team of experts to investigate.

Alexa Woods (Sanaa Lathan) is drafted in for her survival experience on the continent as Mr Weyland himself (Lance Henriksen) plans to go along.

Predator 2

1990something: it's the middle of a heatwave and drug gang turf war violence is spiralling out of control.

Lt. Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover) finds himself being squeezed out of the process by DEA agent Keyes (Gary Busey) but with some of the strange goings on where heavily armed gangs are being wiped out by an unseen faction suspects Keyes isn't really DEA and investigates unofficially.

No good will come of this.

CW: some 80s language, stereotypes, attitudes and scenes you wouldn't do now but it doesn't centre on

Runaway

It is 199x and robots have replaced lots of manual labour in all manner of sectors. They tend the fields, work construction, cook our meals and babysit our children. Nonetheless sometimes they malfunction and go "runaway", usually in pretty harmless ways.

Sergeant Jack R. Ramsay (Tom Selleck) and his new partner Officer Karen Thompson (Cynthia Rhodes) work the Runaway squad, seen as a pretty oddball dept. perhaps akin to animal control.

Then one day a standard housemaid unit goes berserk, killing two and putting a child at risk. Ramsay deals with it but uncovers a conspiracy to turn harmless robots into killers.
