This is not serious film analysis

A good few years ago my employer was throwing out a very old office video projector, the type you use for meetings, and I took it home.

The projector got connected to an old Roku, I wired up a connection to a stereo receiver for sound and shone the image on the uncluttered wall of my living room.

It's a nice big wall.

That's it.

There is no fancy home cinema room or setup.

Since then, I upgraded the projector with another slightly less bad one that my employer was again throwing out and got some blackout blinds but that's it as far as upgrades go.

Like many I'm somebody who usually gets very caught up in the how of something much more than the doing of the thing and can obsess over the equipment or the detail but with this I've managed to avoid that.

What I write about the movies I watch is much the same.

At some point I realised I'd been posting about the movies I watch to friends on Facebook quite a bit and developed a bit of a pattern.

There's a photo, often badly focused, shot with my phone as I start watching, a brief introduction in a comment, sometimes a content warning, then a review in a second comment. Usually it's all typed on my phone sat in the armchair I watched it in. There may be typos.

I'm not educated in film and media, this should become obvious, but I've watched a lot of stuff. I don't claim to be insightful or consistent.

Now I'm cross-posting what I do here because it's slightly less ephemeral than the primary source.
