Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

After foiling an arms shipment arranged by the shadowy "Syndicate" Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) finds himself captured by it.

When he is unexpectedly freed by one of the captors (Rebecca Ferguson) whether or not she can be trusted becomes a new mystery.

CW: slightly leery treatment of Rebecca Ferguson's character that quickly calms down

Christopher McQuarrie takes over the reins but doesn't mess with the formula. Which seems to include swapping out the female member of the team every movie even if by Ghost Protocol they were treating them kind of OK.

Here Rebecca Ferguson does great as a kind of femme fatale agent of unknown true allegiance. Who the film mostly revolves around as the boss villain is kind of dull.

Again we get some thrilling set pieces, the one in the Opera House is especially good while the one in the water filled computer core is somewhat slow and preposterous.

It's another a great bit of blockbuster entertainment 8/10 but not quite to the standard of Ghost Protocol.
