CW: lots of jump scares
Horror sequel is very sequely.
This very much in the same style as the first. Taking a famous "true" ghost hunting story about the Warrens and making a period horror from it is quite a winning formula.
It's slightly diminishing returns but still very solid.
The set for the "East London Council house" is preposterous. All the rooms are about four times the size they would be and the exterior shots imply it's actually a TARDIS. All movies take liberties with this for dramatic and practical reasons but pretty much the whole house would fit in the US style basement it supposedly has which is also unexpectedly flooded. London houses are small but it seems nobody told the filmmakers.
The 70s vibes continue and we've the usual UK as theme park stuff like Margaret Thatcher and The Queen on TV. Also a pub.
7/10 if you like horror but it is very much an obvious franchise formula offering.
