Then one night Betsey has an epiphany under the night sky and discovers new purpose. Divine purpose.
CW: suicide, anorexia, fucking miserable
This is cosmic horror with Betsey as the prophet for some awakening soon to come. She has an evolving internalised folk gospel that she occasionally convinces or scares people with.
It's reliant on very intimate claustrophobic performances and highly affecting, somewhat reminiscent of Take Shelter or Saint Maud where one person is utterly convinced they have special insight into some future apocalypse and prepares while we can only watch.
Ultimately though it's an awful lot of nothing happening in a very tragic way.
6/10 a big plate of misery, you need to be in the mood for a downer.
