While Paul learns to become a Fedaykin fighter and woos Chani (Zendaya), Lady Jessica uses all her skills as a Bene Gesserit to ensure the prophecy comes to pass.
No good will come of this.
Part II has a lot more going on with Paul the initially reluctant great war leader and cult figurehead until he can deny destiny no longer.
Which for me is the whole problem. As much as Denis Villeneuve has done a spectacular adaptation I just don't care for Dune. I've never quite been able to put my finger on why but it's sort of distasteful to me, a lot of which comes from the whole magic boy genius saviour thing I guess.
What we get on screen here is truly epic but it can't fix that bad taste for me. It's just too self important and yet again ends suddenly without feeling like it's self-contained. Although obviously not as badly as Part I did.
Again I'll go against the flow and call it 7/10, too long and too full of itself.
