She has left her own son Lamine (Jahleel Kamara) back in Senegal with an aunt.
Aisha bonds well with Rose and things go well but Amy has a high stress job and leans on her increasingly to run the house and often neglecting to pay her for the extra time she puts in.
With the time zone difference and long hours she finds it increasingly hard to keep in touch with Lamine.
No good will come of this.
Nikyatu Jusu has done a great twist on a mild psychological horror here by choosing an unconventional protagonist and using African themed mythology.
Diop's Aisha is a diligent young woman trying her best and making healthy choices, unlike a lot of "these people deserve it" horror. It's mostly a grounded drama with some supernatural elements, peril and loss with the reality of the situation presented making the latter so much more meaningful.
I slept on this at release but it's great 9/10 highly recommended.
