Virtual Revolution

Once virtual reality technology is perfected almost 75% of humanity spends most of life online in escapist simulation.

When hundreds of players die due to a computer virus attack, Private investigator Nash (Mike Dopud) is hired by the Synternis Corporation to track down the terrorist group responsible: The Necromancers.

Meanwhile Interpol are also on the case.

Super cheap independent Cyberpunk thriller is super cheap, derivative and weakly acted but also sort of OK.

It's so cheap the pistol Nash uses as he goes about his sub Bladerunner hardboiled detectiving is a modified and painted Nerf Firestrike. Most of the weapons are (very well) painted Nerf. Most of the locations are trashed apartments, shops and warehouses.

Occasionally there are forays into the online and these are much shinier than the real world looking like very high kit requirement LARP more than a movie (but this sort of makes sense) and there's the inevitable section where one of the avatars Nash controls is a "super hot woman with a big gun" but it at least acknowledges the tackiness of this.

Jane Badler (of V fame) phones in her role as Nash's handler at Synternis.

Broadly though I commend this for trying to be a serious Cyberpunk movie, a rare thing, and it kept me entertained. 6/10 creditable work that isn't just like every other thing in the big carousel of yawn on Prime/Netflix.
