Unable to turn down such a desperate case, little does she know it will uncover a terrible conspiracy.
CW: nothing, this is super family friendly adventure fun for all but younger kids
A bit tired of watching lots of dark movies I turned to this and it's noticeably better than the first outing.
They've made every effort to make this super accessible. It's a genuinely solid detective story but when "deduction" is happening there's a load of on screen exposition using flashback, voiceover, or visual metaphor that walks through it and it's done in a way that adds to the effect rather being boring, even if you'd already made the leap yourself.
Lots and lots happens. There's chirpy cockernee accents, gurning villains, punchups, chases, romance, comedy and uplifting derring do.
Regular 4th wall breaking dialogue with the audience integrates Enola's internal monologue and I think they've found exactly the right tone for this.
A lot of attempts to create a new franchise fall flat and this could easily have done so in the sequel but instead this cements it Excellent lively family friendly entertainment 8/10, recommended.
