Unexpectedly there's a knock at the door and a young woman asks "Is Tamara home?". Slightly nonplussed by this James sends her away then drives off to fetch some cigarettes for Kristen.
No good will come of this.
CW: violence and jump scares
This well regarded home invasion horror is impressively tense making real mileage out of little things like the sound of knocking on the door, footsteps or a rustle in the trees.
The unexpected sight of a masked intruder suddenly appearing in the background has great impact the first few times but after a while gets repetitive and you can see the negative space set up for it.
There's more story to the couple's night out than there is to the rest of the thing which is just absolutely arbitrary terrorising of strangers for no reason. All motive or exposition is stripped away in the name of purity.
In the end though this clashes slightly with its naturalistic setup initially so full of emotion then so devoid of it. 7/10 worth a look.
