Meanwhile Eloise's daughter Verona (Emmy Raver-Lampman), an FBI agent, begins looking into things too and realises the person responsible for the carnage is most likely her mother's tenant.
No good will come of this
CW: brutal violence, injury detail, suicide, all the big swears
"Who the fuck are you? Winnie the fucking Pooh?"
This utterly preposterous vehicle for the Stath's particular brand of mayhem is joyously elevated by a whole bunch of one-liners/banter, mostly delivered by Raver-Lampman, and a knowing turn from all involved including Josh Hutcherson as the weaselly tech bro at the top of the tree and solid supporting/cameo performances from Jeremy Irons, Jemma Redgrave and Minnie Driver. There's even a gurning South African mercenary with ridiculous sideburns and prosthetic leg who channels Sharlto Copley for him to fight. In the cast the character is listed as 'Saffa' FFS.
You can never know what happened on set but it looks like everybody was into it because it flows, there's an ease to it that's to me like everybody from Statham himself to random extras on the stairs who do a "don't kill me" look at him seem like they did a couple of takes, got it in the bag and everybody kept going. This is of course me bullshitting from nothing but sometimes you can almost see "this took forever and we're all burned out but it's the best take we have".
Want a beer and pizza movie this is highly recommended 8/10 I laughed a lot.
