Nobody crosses the Mayor but local crime boss Mr Besegai decides to raid the party and steal the cash. When the rumour gets out he's going to try roll the Mayor nobody will take the job except the desperate: ex-con Cobby (Casey Affleck) and down on his luck ex-Marine Rory (Matt Damon).
No good will come of this.
Doug Liman's comedy heist movie is fun but a bit perfunctory.
There's a stellar supporting cast, in particular Hong Chau as Rory's psychiatrist who gets caught up in the chaos and it's poking fun at the politicisation and gung-ho side of US policing. Ving Rhames, the Mayor's Police enforcer drives around in an APC. There's even some quite fun chase scenes.
Casey Affleck does a kind of Ryan Reynolds-esque motormouth thing which is still funny when it's coming from somebody else. Damon is just taciturn as a kind of fish out of water which works as an obvious but good foil to this.
Overall though it's just a bit bland, 5/10.
