No good will come of this.
CW: body horror, flashing lights and shakycam
Microbudget surreal not-quite-horror is haunting and unusual.
I was expecting jump scares a-la "Host" but got a quiet sad tale filled with loneliness and isolation.
There are slices of shaky nothing in-between staged videos, often it's the inhuman roar of traffic.
There are hints at the world Casey has entered that are more enticing than the whole of "Damsel" but we will never know them.
Don't expect action. There are two characters in total, they barely speak directly and when they do it's awkward Skype calls.
"That night I made it there. I know it sounds crazy but it's true. I made it there, to the planetarium, across the crowds to the heart of the fair."
This is a vision of weird very online culture, Lost Carcosa for Gen Z and it's both real and also just a game.
Excellent 9/10 but you will probably all absolutely fucking hate it.
