Creep 2

Sara (Desiree Akhavan) has a YouTube channel where she meets up with people who've posted personal ads looking for companionship, the odder the better, and records the results. It's a cavalcade of lonely and/or odd people at times bordering on the fetish scene.

The channel is not doing well.

Her next meet is with Aaron (Mark Duplass) who almost immediately confesses to being a serial killer, although that's OK because he promises he won't kill her in the next 24 hours and he never lies.

No good week come of this.

CW: murder, suicide, stalking, full frontal nudity

The first movie was a bravura study in awkward weirdness from Duplass and in Desiree Akhavan they've found somebody who can go head to head with him.

Sara is fearless and just as transgressive as Aaron pushing back hard against the escalation in his behaviour with the day getting increasingly high stakes. I wasn't sure how they could follow up the first movie but this improves on it.

It's unsettling throughout and the pair are magnetic on screen. I think if I met Duplass in real life I'd have to leave. Quickly.

Recommended 8/10 but you kind of have to have seen and enjoyed the first, which is a rather niche watch.
