After a road accident he breaks into a veterinary practice looking to do some DIY medical treatment as he won't go to a hospital. There he is caught by school acquaintance Kate Brewster (Claire Daines).
This is a bad idea as after all this time a new model Terminator (Kristanna Loken) has arrived but this time is looking for Brewster.
Luckily there's also an old fashioned T101 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) along too to lend Connor and Brewster a hand.
CW: injury detail
This much maligned sequel is a good concept let down by a weak performance from Stahl and the urge to inject T2 style levity/catchphrases in places that just doesn't work.
In a non-Judgement Day world Connor is a useless appendage struggling with a weird kind of survivors guilt for an apocalypse that hasn't happened. It's potentially a great role but the scripting is as weak as Stahl's performance.
Daines does OK with her character discovering she's also a fated leader and has the best out of it.
Again they try to stop a delayed Judgement Day and this time Skynet is as much virus as military project so we get both lots of noughties early Internet/nanotech technobabble and secret military drones gone rogue.
Arnie does Arnie but Kristanna Loken is a bit Terminator sex doll which seemed cheesy in the noughties and is an even worse look now.
This sounds like I don't like it but I do. The concept they use to retread the T2 plot points is good and the ending fantastic they just botch chunks of the delivery. The chase scene with the crane is still great and we didn't yet realise quite how low the franchise could stoop.
6/10 mostly for doing that ending.
