When Joe heads out to collect the office lunch order he uses the back door and thus narrowly avoids death when a group of assassins con their way inside and slaughter his colleagues.
He calls it in but gets into a panicked state waiting for a safe pickup and things go downhill from there.
I'm unsure about this highly regarded spy drama, it seems very slight despite some cool imagery.
Turner does some interesting investigation of his own once he decides he can't trust anybody and the early portrayal of phone phreaking is nice but a lot of it doesn't add up to me.
Then there's the nominal romance plot where shortly after his apparent girlfriend has been shot he kidnaps Faye Dunaway's photographer and the pair end up fucking after he's been treating her roughly for a bit. I was like WTF? It's quite Bladerunner.
Best element is Max Von Sydow's mercenary assassin who's very polite and mindful of collateral damage while going about his work.
Mildly disappointing 6/10
