When her partner R (Joel Fry) finally makes it to the hospital it's clear they and their newborn son Zeb can't stay in the city so they try to head somewhere safer.

Mahalia Belo gives us a view onto a very believable end of the civilised world that's almost as harrowing as things like The Road or Threads. It's not as grim as either but the mundanity of the misery makes it instantly more relatable.
We see Mother being exactly that through all the travails the failing world throws at her and it's a really standout performance from Jodie Comer.
It'll make you want to reach out to the people you care about because suddenly they could be gone. Highly recommended 9/10 but like I say an emotional watch.
