Trevor isn't doing so great either. He used to do courier work for an art gallery and says he knows where there is a warehouse full of "billionaire art shit" where he knows how to get in. They resolve to rob this of anything that looks valuable.
All they find there is an ornate black and gold cube.
No good will come of this.
CW: Gore, mutilation and body horror. It's a Hellraiser movie FFS
David Bruckner reboots Hellraiser and it's OK. It's been a very long time since I've seen the original and this is a very different story but it works just fine as a way to introduce the franchise to a new audience.
Where I struggled is I found Odessa A'zion's Riley continuously irritating and it's quite long. Also people are called things like Colin & Trevor which seems odd.
What it's good with is creating a moderately consistent and logical explanation for the Lament Configuration ending up in Riley's hands and it builds reasons for things happening to keep the plot moving beyond "fiddle with the box: get dragged to hell".
A decent reboot, nothing special 6/10. No it's not got fan favourite Doug Bradley in but that's to be expected: he's quite old now and it's a complete reboot.
