Guns Akimbo

Miles (Daniel Radcliffe) has a very humdrum life working for a company that makes exploitative mobile games. To give himself some sense of achievement he spends his evenings "trolling the trolls", arguing with people online and reporting content he disapproves of.

One night, he picks a fight with the wrong person, the admin of the infamous fight channel Skizm where people fight to the death for fame and transient fortune.

The Skizm crew track him down, break into his house, abduct him and surgically attach guns to his hands. He's been set up for a deathmatch with Nix (Samara Weaving), current top of the Skizm leaderboard.

This is a kind of "what if GTA online unexpectedly manifested into everyday reality" OTT bonkers violent romp.

Another beer and pizza movie (I had both to hand) it does what it sets out to do and barely pauses for breath. Everybody associated with Skizm looks like and acts like a video game character while everybody else looks and acts normal. They even joke about this in the dialogue. All pretence at logic is burned on the bonfire of the concept but that's OK.

For a Prime freebie this is a solid piece of OTT entertainment that disapproves of our basest desires for meaningless violent entertainment through the medium of meaningless violent entertainment. There's a touch of "Kick Ass" about it.

Recommended 8/10.

If the promo shot of Radcliffe stumbling about in a dressing gown and novelty slippers with guns welded to his hands piqued your interest you'll love it.
