Now a young man working in a very progressive HR department, Adam still yearns for the life he knew as a child and searches for the Sword of Power. He makes no secret of this and recounts his stories to anyone he can: obviously this makes him be seen as something of a weirdo.
One day the sword is found and almost as soon as he touches it this brings Eternia back into his life.
Travis Knight has taken a somewhat poison chalice of cheese from Mattel and turned in an acceptable bit of brightly coloured fluff.
It would have taken a genius to deliver the source material seriously so the obvious path was taken: a mashup of the 1980 Flash Gordon and Guardians of the Galaxy with everyone winking at the camera.
It almost gets away with it but suffers from doing the "we know this is stupid but we're going to lean into it" thing a little too often. You can get away with the Fisto joke once and once only.
Everyone does their job acceptably and amazingly Jared Leto is good fun as Skeletor while sort of channelling David Brent but is slightly upstaged by Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, who is the best of the whole bunch.
It's both so much better than it could have been and not quite as good as it should have been, but fills the time just fine 6/10.
