It's a baroque old building with a large in-house staff tending to rich tenants and Superintendent Lily (Patricia Arquette) welcomes her, setting Isabella up in her new room.
No good will come of this.
CW: Ultraviolence and goopy gore
Kirill Sokolov's action comedy goes for it pretty much off the bat. There's very little intro before we get to limb chopping violence.
This is from a long line of "the rich are evil, they will kill you and they don't play fair" movies recently represented by things like 'Ready or Not', 'The Hunt' and 'Bacurau'.
Zazie Beetz covers the action parts well even if some of the supporting cast aren't great at it but the comic tone papers over a lot of cracks. When the "twist" happens early on it really made me let out a little cry of joy. It's not big or clever but lets you know you're in for a fun time.
Not one to trouble many "best of" lists but goes down well on a dull evening with a beer 6/10.
