When a great flood comes, clearly not for the first time, the cat flees and as the water rises inexorably just manages to take sanctuary on a rickety sailboat.
It is not alone.
CW: nothing
This lauded animation from Gints Zilbalodis is kind of sad and wistful.
Ending up with a crew of Cat, Labrador, Capybara and Secretary Bird the boat drifts through a drowning world and the only slightly anthropomorphised animals alternately bicker and cooperate.
It's not just cute though: there's real cruelty, selfishness and loss.
With no dialogue it serves as an allegory for whatever you project onto it but as it gets to the end it mourns the lost and celebrates overcoming fear and differences.
Highly recommended 8/10.
