Bridling at the unaccustomed interference they reluctantly investigate but as they pick at the thread uncover a web of silence spanning all levels of Boston society.
CW: child abuse discussed in a very procedural manner
Old school fact based drama done with great attention to detail and a heavyweight cast.
It's the early days of the Internet so much is done face to face pounding the streets and in the (paper) archives of various organisations. The great hollowing out of print media has caused it to surrender this kind of thing to new organisations like Bellingcat in the modern world. The teetering piles of manila folders and flip-phones peg this to a very narrow period in time where we had omnipresent personal availability but not yet omnipresent access to information.
It's quite dry, one of the risks of sticking close to the shocking truth means it's perhaps a little full of the banality of evil and low on surprises.
Nonetheless a great piece of traditional serious issue based filmmaking 8/10, recommended.
