Eenie Meanie

Edie (Samara Weaving) spent her teenage years in criminal circles acting as a driver in a series of heists until something went very wrong.

She's trying to get by now as a more responsible adult but struggling and when she gets some unexpected news goes to visit her feckless on/off boyfriend John (Karl Glusman) .

No good will come of this.

CW: sudden violence and plenty of swears

This wants to be a sassy noughties era heist movie with Baby Driver style balletic car chases but doesn't really manage to pull it off.

It's patchily decent and starts off with a really strong chaotic first 40 minutes but then sags and doesn't really regain momentum.

They paint Edie as smart but then she does stupid stuff "because she loves John" in ways that just don't feel justified. Every now and then there's a little bit of dialogue or a moment that's excellent but then it drops back into being derivative

Andy Garcia is fun as the crime boss Edie ends up doing "one last job" for and Samara Weaving is good value but ultimately underserved by the material.

As Immortan Joe would say, mediocre. 6/10.
