Shortly after a secret government project manages to capture the Predator and brings in conveniently hot big brain scientist Casey Bracket to study it. Bracket wants to interview McKenna so the bus taking him to the nuthouse (along with various "comedy" nut job ex military) diverts to the secret facility.
The ship from the space battles arrives, piloted by another Predator which somehow causes the first one to escape. McKenna and Bracket team up with the bus of misfits to hunt it down as it's heading to retrieve the stolen tech, which is with McKenna's family, oh no!
This pushes all the franchise buttons and adds wisecracks and supposed comedy relief. There are some reasonable ideas but the comedy is very much in poor taste (tourettes=comedy swearing, various "ha ha mad people are funny, right" schtiks) it's chock full of dull stereotypes (autistic child is a savant that can operate alien tech) and at various points seems to not join up very well. The mix of CGI and practical effects is wildly inconsistent sometimes looking great, sometimes awful.
It's generally in poor taste and rubbish. However I did actually quite enjoy it and didn't find myself looking at my phone etc. Some of the jokes land plus an ensemble cast works in its favour.
Not as bad as expected and given the franchise was already in the doldrums it's not exactly letting the side down 5/10.
